I made new curtains. I had white slider "kitchen rods" up and didn't want to stop and install, nor buy, new ones.My curtains stay open, becasue I have shades on the windows. I spray painted the center of the rod, about 18", a color that matched the curtains. With the light on, the rod looks too bright, but it's not. Instead of having an ugly piece of white in the middle of my burgandy curtains, I now have a dark rod that doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. My can of spray paint cost me &1.50 and now, I certainly have more than a $2.00 "kitchen curtain rod".
