When you give a bouquet of flowers, or herbs, from your garden, put them in a mason jar and tie a strip of homespun fabric, or raffia around the neck of the jar, instead of ribbon.
If the flowers fall to the side, make a grid with tape over the opening of the jar. Use thin tape, and add 3 horizontal rows. Turn the jar 1/4 turn and add 3 more rows. You now have squares to insert the flower stems. Your flowers will , now, stand up straight.
