You may think it's too early to start making gifts for Christmas, but if you compile the list of what you want to make, you can have the supplies ready, when you do start.
Salt Scrubs:
Sea salt
jars
baby oil
essential oil
If you need to make a few of them, buy a box of 1/2 pint canning jars. 12 of them is approximately $8.00. Fill the jar 3/4 full with sea salt. I buy the salt at the dollars stores. The grocery store changes $2.30, or so. Pour in baby oil, stirring the salt gently, to ensure the oil goes to the bottom. Add enough baby oil until it almost reaches the neck of the jar. Add more salt if it's there is room in the oil. Add 5, or so, drops of essential or fragrance oil. If you want it a little stronger, add a few more drops of oil. You can buy oil at Walmart in the craft section.
Put a teaspoon, or so, on a sponge and gently rub onto your body....staying away from sensitive areas.
* If you buy Lavender or another scented baby oil, there is no need to add essential oil.
Sachet
A sachet is a small bag that be tucked into your regular pillow to scent your bed, linen closet, clothes closet or vehicle.
Cut a long strip of pretty, thin fabric, 4"x9". At the end of each 4" side, sew a casing about 1/2". Fold in half, right sides facing. Your fabric should be 4"x 4 1/4". Sew up each side but not quite to where you sewed the casing. Turn right side out. Fill with mix below. Run a piece of ribbon through one casing, leaving it about 10" long. Run another ribbon, same size thru the other casing. Pull tight and tie.
Before you sew the bag up the sides, you can sew on a piece of lace or a small pocket for a note. You can tie a small cross, heart or add beads (in jewelry department) to the ribbon.
*If you make it early, put in plastic bag to protect the scent until you give your gift.
