EMBRIODERY

Ay a craft store or ebay, buy a stamped embroidery kit, for learning. Read the package to see what is included. Be sure you get thread, needles and a hoop, to hold the fabric taut while you work. There are some very pretty designs out now. The design is printed on the fabric and you do your stitches where they show you. First photo. When you are finished and wash your fabric, the printing disappears. Word of caution….don’t let the fabric get wet or it will be hard to see the design. There are pillowcases, tablecloths, baby bibs or blankets and 18 x 18″ stamped (set of 6) pieces in a kit for making a quilt. These are really easy to do. After you embroider them, you can add strips of fabric to make your quilt or throw. I will be writing a post on quilting, also.
After you learn the stitches…and they are included in the kits…you can make your own designs. Write your name with a transfer pencil that works like the ink in the printed kits. You can print or write your name on muslin or white fabric and frame it. If you sew, try sewing on fabric strips for the border, or mat. I have 3 pages in my book of quotes, or “sayings”…ex: As for me and my house we will serve the Lord“…”I’m just a Raggedy Ann in a Barbie doll world”. With the pencil, you write your words on paper. Make the print a little dark. Iron the words on another piece of paper, trace over it and iron it on your fabric. If you don’t the print will be backwards on the fabric.
