THE GIFT OF A SEWING BOX

Give your daughter or granddaughter her own sewing box. If you sew, take time to teach her the basics. If she’s a little older, let her sew on your machine,or buy her one. Brother has machines for under $100.00. There are machines for kids that sew pretty well and are quite safe, with parental supervision. They are cheaper.....but I would see if she has an interest in sewing before making a purchase.
Into her new sewing box, add:
needles
thread
needle threader
scissors
tape measure
pin cushion
straight pins ( the ones for quilting with beads on the top of the pin)
safety pins
elastic
cards of buttons
a beginner sewing book
an easy pattern or buy a fabric panel of a printed pillow. Teach her to quilt the panel, or just to sew it to a back and stuff.
material (look on the back of the pattern for yardage and types of fabric)
If you do not sew, maybe you could learn together.
